My work is more than straight photography and goes beyond image manipulation. I use various techniques to create works of art that have depth and movement, together with use of colour and shade to make my images seem full of light, dimension and sometimes mystery.

My range of art follows my spirit through soft and moody (only occasionally!) to dramatic and vibrant. Art college training in the heady days of the sixties and many years spent later in fashion and design, gave me a solid grounding in the importance of form, colour and composition. Now I am particularly keen to experiment with new technologies, new techniques and different ideas and influences in order to keep my work looking fresh and new.

For a time after my foray into the fashion world I threw myself with gusto into the great open air. I have always loved plants and gardens and it was a short step to becoming a plantsman and garden designer. As I indulged myself and my clients in some of the more exotic and unusual plants I re-discovered the urge to photograph everything, firstly so that I could show next year’s buyers what they could expect to see later after the sprigs in their tiny pots had grown up, but also just for the pure delight of it.

I had never before really noticed in such near detail the extraordinary intricacy and magical splendour of even the tiniest of blooms. I would get closer and closer with my lens until I almost felt that I had slipped into an inner world inhabited only by bees and butterflies. The inspiration to do something compelling with the photographs that ensued was irresistible.

Flowers led to trees and trees led into woods, where poets and artists have for ever been captivated by the mystical images conjured up in their dark recesses. I am now completely hooked!
